Living Libraries
Think Tank

Research, knowledge sharing and production are the key goals of our residencies. We strive to capture the diversity of the human experience across the arts and to engage in fruitful exchanges with independent, experimental or affiliated artists, designers, architects, curators and researchers looking for insight and openings into the peoples and practices of ancestral and contemporary Angolan arts, cultures and creative industries.

We offer living quarters for 1–2 residents, mobility and networking support, full participation in our project and space to focus on your own work. If you are interested in seeing things from another perspective, looking for another location to develop your research and studies or simply believe that your views and knowledge should be shared in an environment that fosters meaningful discussions on Angolan, African and Afrodescendant Art, Design, Cultures, Thinking and History, please apply. We will begin by hosting residents from Angola. In the future, we will open to residents from other parts of the world.

For more details on our residencies, please read our guidelines for residence. We look forward to receiving your application!

NOTE: Due to the safety measures and restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, expected to be effective throughout 2021, residencies at Ulônga will start at a date to be announced.
