Urban Colors

Transforming our realities into color palettes. This research project is based on the workshop series Urban Colors which looks into the colors of the City of Luanda. This first edition takes on the Colors of Commerce, from street vending to markets and small shops.

The results of this first study (color schemes) will be published in the platform Think Tank in hopes of stimulating this and the next generations of Angolan creatives, making them aware of the colors attached to our specific realities and inspiring them to create local designs that reflect or refract our perceptions of esthesis and esthetics through contemporary colors.

As the research group continues to study the different colors projected by commerce in the city’s centers and peripheries, the long-term goal is to create a Guide to Contemporary Angolan Color Palettes, which will include the research of all up coming Urban Colors’ workshops and the outcome of the Open Call Urban Colors.
